Event Details Speaker: Abu Muntasir Join Abu Muntasir at City Circle on Friday, 2nd March, for an inspiring talk, "Trusting Each Other in Times of Suspicion", that will shed light on the little-understood virtue of husn al-dhann, which entails more than just giving each other the benefit of the doubt, but also involves putting the best construction on events and on each other's motives. What impact does the current political climate have on levels of trust within Muslim communities and between Muslims and wider society, and on how Muslims and non-Muslim institutions are perceived? Have we been drawn into unnecessary levels of distrust and suspicion of each other? What light does the teaching of Islam shed on these difficulties? Putting this virtue into practice means understanding the context and pressures that people are operating under. Abu Muntasir will spell out the relationship between trusting each other and maintaining an ethic of cautious evidence-based criticism rather than one of unexamined self justification. Abu Muntasir is president of JIMAS and a regular speaker at the City Circle. All welcome. No entrance fee. TIME: 6.45pm - 8.30pm LOCATION: Main Hall (Ground Floor), 45 Crawford Place, London W1H 4LP.
