Sadiq Khan, elected as MP for Tooting in 2005 and a former chair of Liberty,
will examine whether current debates about citizenship and integration will
help to create a strong and positive British Muslim identity, and set out what
needs to change to fully engage British Muslims in the broader Britishness
debate.
Bringing together leading voices from within and outside British Muslim
communities, the event will reflect on the lessons of the year since the 7th
July terrorist attacks and the plurality of views emerging within Muslim
communities, discussing how government and political leadership should
respond.
This Fabian Society event, continuing its work on Britishness, is being held
in association with The City Circle, Q-News and Fosis.
