The City Circle is pleased to invite the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg MP. He will touch on a range of key issues. This important event will also provide the audience an opportunity to asked him questions and engage with the policies of the Liberal Democrats.
Nick Clegg is MP for Sheffield Hallam and Leader of the Liberal Democrats. He studied at Cambridge, Minnesota and College D'Europe before training as a journalist. Clegg then worked as a development and trade expert in the EU, sat as an MEP (1999-2004), lectured at Sheffield and Cambridge universities, and was elected as an MP in 2005. In Parliament Clegg was quickly appointed Europe spokesperson and later Shadow Home Secretary, a role in which he spearheaded the Liberal Democrats' defence of civil liberties and promoted a new approach to cutting crime.
He was elected Leader of the party in December 2007 and has pledged to double the party's number of MPs within two elections. Clegg is married with two young children.
