Few things can transform the lives of individuals, and the state of nation, like an excellent education.  Yet, many children around the world never get the chance to gain the education they deserve.  Thankfully, numerous dedicated organisations are working to rectify this situation.
 
CARE Pakistan is one of the leading educational non-profit organisations in Pakistan that provides education to 145,000 underprivileged children in 192 schools around the country.  CARE Pakistan schools deliver the same academic performance as private schools for the cost of £1 per child per month.  CARE is now working to expand its work to serve 1 million children.
 
In this talk, the speakers will share the story of CARE Pakistan, it work since its foundation in 1988, and the great things it has achieved.  The speakers will discuss their latest campaign to reach a million children.

The speakers:

Mehvish Khan (CEO) is a specialist in development and strategic fundraising, with 13 years experience in the charity sector. She has worked for some of the largest British charities as well as some of the most renowned Pakistan-based educational organisations.

Syed Shezad Abedi (Trustee) was born in Pakistan and came to Britain at the age of 4.  After Graduating in physics, he completed a masters in Management.  Shezad is an energy specialist who has worked at senior levels of various energy companies. He now owns his own energy business.
 
Faisal Irfan Mian (Trustee) has worked for over 15 years in the finance industry and is currently at Liquidity Finance LLP, a boutique trading emerging markets Debt. Faisal is also involved in Emerging Market charities through Empower -  a foundation that takes social sector initiatives in developing countries, is a partner of Acumen Fund - an investor in social enterprises and ideas, and a trustee of British Pakistan Foundation.  
 
Nadeem Shaikh (Trustee) has 20 years experience in financial services and information technology.   Nadeem currently serves as a venture partner of Anthemis Group, a specialized holding company that invests in growth-stage companies with innovative business models.
