Radicalisation and Multiculturalism Discussed

JSB Lecture Theatre, University of Bradford

Why are some young Muslim men being radicalised? Is multiculturalism the cause for this? What should be the appropriate policy response?

These are some of the questions that will be considered at the launch of a new book 'Islam in the European Union: Transnationalism, youth and the war on terror' edited by Kasturi Sen and Yunas Samad.

Yunas Samad will speak at this event on the European context and provide some introduction to the main themes around this debate. Yahya Birt, Director at the City Circle, will provide an introduction to theories of radicalisation and this will be followed by Rachel Briggs, Head of Demos's Identity programme and co-author of the influential Bringing it Home report which examines issues of radicalisation and counter-terrorism, who will speak on the findings of the report and the policy options that are available for government.
