Launch of the Ramadan Festival 2012 UK

Ramadan Festival 2012

Launch of the Ramadan Festival 2012 UK

6pm - 9pm, Wednesday 18 July 2012

Hayfield Masala, 156 Mile End Road, E1 4LJ *Pls note the venue*

The City Circle – in association with Cedar and ISB – would like to invite you to the launch of the Ramadan Festival 2012 UK (www.ramadanfestival.org).

With Ramadan coinciding with the London Olympics, the Festival seeks to highlight what is common between the two: sacrifice, discipline and concerted effort; war and conflict would be suspended during the ancient games, the same principle historically applied to Ramadan.

The Ramadan Festival is part of 2012 Hours Against Hate for Unity, a join initiative of London-based community organisations to promote respect across lines of culture, religion, tradition, class and gender. The initiative has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

The Launch event will be supporting the Big Issue Foundation that works tirelessly in support of the homeless and needy across the UK – those of our neighbours we should remember most, not least during Ramadan.

Guest speakers for the evening include:

- Stephen Robertson - Chief Executive, The Big Issue Foundation

- Nick Lowles - Director, HOPE not hate

- Imam Abdul Latif Finch - Zaytuna Institute, USA

and other partners and supporters

Three course meal. Charity auction. Tickets are £10 with all profits raised on the evening being donated to The Big Issue Foundation.

Purchase your tickets here: http://ramadanfestival2012.eventbrite.com

We look forward to seeing you there! If you can't come to the launch, spread the word to others and do get involved in the Fesival anyway: Organise an interfaith Iftar, feed the homeless, help needy families and there are lots more ideas we can help you develop.
