Event Details

In the week before Ramadan starts, City Circle is pleased invite you to "Ramadan Reflections: the Ins and Outs of the Fast" with Sidi Talal Al-Azem to help prepare us all for the holy month of fasting. The meeting will be held at 6.45pm on Friday, 7th September 2007 at Abrar House, 45 Crawford Place, off Edgware Road, London W1H 4LP.

Sidi Talal will remind us of the blessings o Ramadan and will take us through the inward and outward aspects of the fast. While the rules of the Sacred Law set the
parameters, it is the inner dimensions that allow us to understand and benefit from this spiritual exercise, and ensure that our fast not be one that, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him) warned us, only brings thirst and hunger. There will be time for questions and answers afterwards.

Sidi Talal Al-Azem comes originally from Michigan, USA. He graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1997 with a degree in history and near eastern studies. From 1997 to 2006 he undertook Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria. In 2006 he moved to Oxford to pursue a Master's in Muslim medieval institutional and intellectual history, and is currently beginning a DPhil at Oxford in medieval Muslim law and education.

Free entrance. All welcome.
