Event details

In a few days, we will be welcoming the holy month of Ramadhan.  Referred to in the Qur’an as better than a thousand months, it is a time of spirituality, contemplation, worship and detachment from worldly matters.

As the timing of Ramadhan moves, this year the days of fasting will last longer than they did in the past few years.  With the fasting period lasting for about 18 hours, it is important that we manage our health well to sustain ourselves and preserve energy so we can devote it to worship.

In this talk, the speaker will share medical advice to help us stay healthy so we can enjoy the fast, detox our bodies, and make of the most of the holiest time in the year.

The speaker:
Dr Nazia Rashid is a qualified GP who is involved heavily in health promotion and charity work.  She presented on the Health Show on the Islam Channel and recently received an award in recognition of her work on the show.  She has held various health seminars including health during Hajj and took part in charity work in Kenya.  Closer to home, she has been on various committees within the British Medical Association.  She seeks to champion those whose human rights have been violated and aims to portray how British Muslims can contribute positively in day to day life.

Free entrance. All welcome.
