Speakers: Abu Muntasir

Event Details

City Circle welcomes you to "The Hypocrisy in Our Zeal" with Abu Muntasir on Friday, 16th November at 6.45pm at Abrar House, 45 Crawford Place, off the Edgware Road, London W1H 4LP.

Abu Muntasir contends that when Muslims become overly focused on issues and in particular become obsessed with positions taken in fiqh (Islamic law) regarding any matter, it is symptomatic of hypocrisy. Zeal without knowledge is frenzy. Our adherence to Islam may be seen as frenzied responses more often than is necessary or desirable. There may be sincerity in our reactions but what is there to protect our sincerity against moral corruption? Hypocrisy results from certain desires masked by religiosity, but not clothed with religion. It is always the right time to check our hearts. Now is as good a time to consider whether our zealous practice of 'Islam' is hypocritical or not - for our own good!

Abu Muntasir is the President of JIMAS and a regular speaker at the City Circle.

Free entrance. All welcome.
