Title: The Ramadan Fast: Chinese Medical Perspectives (Charity Event)
Speaker: Imran Mohammed

Date: 27th August 2010 at 18:45
Venue: Abrar House, 45 Crawford Place, W1H 4LP

Event details:
Traditionally, fasting is not only unique to Islam, but has been used for health and spiritual purposes across many cultures and religions.  In this discussion, the benefits for the body and the soul will be explored through the lens of Chinese Medicine with special emphasis given to diet, food properties and the relationship to our individual climate and constitution.

In Chinese Medicine, different food types may be harmful or helpful depending on one's health status.  Certain foods are considered energetically "blood producing" and helpful when fasting, while others are energetically "cold", "hot",  "mucus producing" or "drying".  In this talk, we will learn about these properties and how to match them to the individual.

This is a charity event.  A representative from a leading charity organisation will highlight the devastation caused by the recent slow tsunami in Pakistan that has killed over 1,600 people, left 4 million homeless and has flooded approximately one quarter of the country's land mass.

Free Entry.
Iftar will be served at 8.02pm.  Facilities for prayer are available.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
