As the holy month of Ramadhan approaches, Dr Usama Hassan (Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, former Planetarium Lecturer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich & an imam at Tawhid Mosque) gives an Introduction to the science of determining visibility of the New Crescent Moon, with reference to the dates of Ramadhan and Eid, and discusses the validity of such calculations in Islamic law.  This illustrated lecture will be followed by an open discussion.
